Put immediate safety before an enquiry
If you are in immediate danger, call 999. This website enquiry is not an emergency response or a continuously monitored protection service. Official guidance lists specialist domestic abuse support and ways to seek help. [1] You do not need to complete a Yudey enquiry before using those services. Only use this form if the device, contact details and possible reply are safe for you.
Yudey can organise a limited referral enquiry for specialist advice in England and Wales. The first task is to understand what contact is safe and what type of help is being sought. We do not require a detailed account of abuse in an open message or promise that a referral alone will stop another person's behaviour. Immediate concerns need the appropriate emergency or specialist response.
Choose a contact route that does not increase risk
A shared phone, email account or device may not be suitable for a confidential enquiry. Consider whether another person can see messages, notifications or browsing activity before using this channel. The form offers safe contact preferences, but no website can guarantee that activity on your device is hidden. If using the form is unsafe, seek specialist support through a safer route available to you.
You can begin with minimal information about the help needed and a safe way to respond. Do not include a refuge address, detailed travel plans or other sensitive location information. Any later document exchange and referral recipient should be agreed before records are shared. The coordination process should respect your choices rather than assume that a telephone call or voicemail is welcome.
Identify the kind of specialist assessment required
A person may need legal protection advice, practical support or help understanding an existing order. Official guidance describes non-molestation and occupation orders in England and Wales. [2] The appropriate professional must assess available options, eligibility and urgency for the actual circumstances. This page does not select an order, promise same-day protection or assume that a particular application is suitable everywhere.
Existing police involvement, proceedings or orders can be mentioned briefly where safe. The referral brief can identify those records without asking you to repeat every event. If children are affected, that concern should be raised with the appropriate specialist. A routine coordination engagement cannot replace safeguarding assessment, emergency accommodation support or a professional decision about urgent court action.
Preserve available information without risky collection
Records you already hold safely may help a professional understand the situation. A limited index can identify messages, notices or existing correspondence, without placing sensitive evidence in the initial form. You should not confront another person, access their accounts or remain in danger to gather material for an enquiry. Safety is more important than completing a document checklist.
The responsible professional can explain what evidence is relevant and how it should be handled. We do not promise that a particular message proves a case or advise removing context from records. If information is missing, that can be recorded honestly. A person should not be denied a referral discussion merely because they do not have a complete chronology or formal evidence pack.
Confirm the referral and professional responsibilities
Yudey's role must be agreed as coordination unless a distinct professional service is expressly accepted. This page does not establish that Yudey is a regulated solicitor firm, a refuge provider or an emergency helpline. Legal advice and reserved court work require the appropriate professional and authority. Availability and acceptance should be confirmed before you rely on someone to take urgent action.
No other person is contacted automatically through a referral brief. The proposed recipient and information to be shared should be agreed, subject to applicable professional and safeguarding duties explained by the responsible provider. You should know whether the next step is an introduction, an advice appointment or an accepted application instruction. Those are different levels of assistance and should not be confused.
Understand the costs and next step
Specialist free support may be available through the official guidance linked above. Any Yudey coordination charge or separately instructed legal fee must be explained in writing before acceptance, with applicable VAT. Funding eligibility requires assessment; no entitlement or fixed protection outcome is promised. An initial enquiry does not require payment and should not delay access to emergency or specialist help.
If it is safe to proceed, provide only a short description of the assistance needed, general area and safe contact preference. Mention urgency without exposing a confidential address. The intended output is a limited, consented handover to an appropriate professional where accepted. If that cannot be arranged, the position should be communicated clearly rather than implying that a protective service is already in place.
