Understand what the register is telling you
A company record can look complete while still leaving important questions about the documents behind an entry. Yudey's Companies House filing review compares a defined set of records with the supporting information supplied by the company. It is useful when administration changes hands, an old discrepancy is discovered or a transaction requires a clearer picture of the company's filing history.
We begin by defining the period, document types and concern. A review of director changes is different from an examination of several years of accounts filings. The proposal states the records included and the depth of comparison. This prevents a limited administrative check from being described as a complete legal, financial or forensic audit of the company.
Bring public and internal information together
The agreed work can organise filing receipts, resolutions, registers, correspondence and other relevant evidence into a review set. We identify what is available, what is missing and which version appears to be final. If several advisers have handled the company's administration, we can flag records that may need to be requested from them through an agreed process.
A public entry does not answer every question about authority, underlying ownership or the accuracy of information originally submitted. We therefore distinguish what is visible from what the supporting documents establish. The official guidance explains that directors retain responsibilities even where other people provide administrative help. [1] Our report helps the company see which issues need a decision rather than treating outsourced filing as a transfer of all responsibility.
Assess discrepancies without jumping to conclusions
An apparent inconsistency may come from a missing document, a timing difference, a mistaken entry or an underlying corporate action that needs further analysis. We record the issue and the evidence that would help distinguish those possibilities. The review avoids calling a filing fraudulent or invalid simply because the current file does not explain it.
For example, a director appointment date may differ across records, or a change described in internal correspondence may not appear in the selected filing history. We can identify the mismatch and propose questions for the people involved. If the matter suggests unauthorised activity, a live dispute or a need for urgent protection, we identify the requirement for a separate specialist response.
Turn findings into an action list
The report can group findings by urgency, the record affected and the next action needed. Some matters may require a document to be located; others may need a director's approval, a correction route or professional advice about the underlying transaction. We state where a conclusion remains provisional because evidence is incomplete. That makes the output suitable for practical follow-up.
Correction is not simply a matter of replacing one public document with a preferred version. The correct procedure depends on the information and circumstances. The review can identify the route to investigate and the material required, but preparing applications, dealing with objections or obtaining a court order is separately scoped where relevant. We do not promise that every historical entry can be removed.
Set the limits of the review
This service can help organise corporate records; it is not an audit opinion on accounts or a certificate that the business has complied with every legal obligation. Financial accuracy, tax reporting, beneficial ownership disputes and insolvency questions may require different professional work. The written scope states which assumptions are used and which issues are outside the review.
We also agree how third-party questions will be handled. If Companies House correspondence already exists, its wording and dates are important to the scope. Replies to formal notices or a rejection may be included only where expressly stated. The review's completion does not itself stop a deadline, withdraw a notice or confirm that an official record has changed.
A documented handover for the next person
Your handover can include the reviewed-record list, a discrepancy table, evidence gaps and a prioritised next-step plan. Each action can name the responsible internal role or the professional input required. This is particularly useful when a new administrator takes over, because they can see the limits of the review and avoid repeating assumptions that were never established.
Fees depend on the period, volume of records, quality of the supporting file and complexity of the issues. The quotation sets out the GBP charge, applicable VAT and the included discussion or clarification stage. To start, provide the company number and a short explanation of the concern, along with any important dates. We will agree secure document handling and a focused scope before asking for the full records.
